The Egri Korona Wine-House garnered high awards at the probably most prestigious wine competition of the world, the wine competition of Bordeaux. Many of the leading wine-producing countries compete here at the “Challenge International du Vin”. One of our wines, the “Korona Selection Merlot barrique 2003” had won gold prize, and besides this, the wine-growing region of Eger had been placed second (after Bordeaux) at the competition of 5072 wines of 36 country.
Korona Selection Merlot barrique 2003
After the successes of the 2002 vintage, the Merlot of 2003 vintage is again one of the most outstanding wines of the wine-house. It’s colored deep red, almost ruby, having a characteristic fragrance. The aging in barrique barrels harmonize with the fruitiness of the wine. It is a smooth, somewhat bitterish wine, having a permanent aftertaste. It had won silver prize in 2004, at the VINAGORA wine competition.
Several of our wines also gained high awards at Hungarian and International wine competitions. Take a look at the list of awards >
